Copyright Policy

Last updated:

We expect our customers to respect copyright. This page explains how to report a site we host that you believe infringes your copyright, and how a customer can respond. It follows the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Sending a copyright notice

Send a written notice to our designated agent (below) that includes all of the following:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The copyrighted work you believe is infringed. If there are several, a list of them.
  3. The material you want removed, with the exact URL of each page or file, so we can find it.
  4. Your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act for them.

Knowingly false claims can make you liable for damages under the DMCA. If you aren't sure the material infringes, talk to a lawyer before sending a notice.

What we do with a notice

  • We review each complete notice and remove or disable access to the material it identifies.
  • We forward the notice to the customer who hosts the material.
  • If a notice is missing required parts, we ask you for them before acting.

Counter-notices from customers

If material you host was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to our designated agent. It must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. The material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, mailing address and phone number.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or for any district where we can be found if you are outside the United States, and that you will accept service of legal papers from the person who sent the original notice.

We send the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. If they don't tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court case, we restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we received the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

In appropriate circumstances, we end the service for customers who repeatedly infringe copyright, as described in our Terms of Service.
